Prestigious Kleinburg in Vaughan, Ontario
When I think about Kleinburg, Ontario I think of the prestigious neighbourhood just north of Woodbridge & Sonoma Heights in Vaughan, with a quaint village-style main street featuring several specialty stores & fine dining. I think of a place that I love to play tennis with my family (or with members of the Kleinburg Tennis Club) at Bindertwine Park, & take a walk or bike ride through the Humber River Trails. These activities are often followed by a visit with my kids to BonBons & Brittle for the best soft-serve ice cream or to Dolcini by Joseph for home style gelato in vibrant & fresh flavours.
On any given day, while in Kleinburg, you will be likely to see groups of cyclists or joggers, several couples & families going for a stroll after dinner or walking their dog. The atmosphere of the main business strip (on Islington Ave, just north of Major Mackenzie), is cozy & upscale with several small family-run specialty shops. You will often see bridal parties & recently engaged couples having their photos taken by Storia Photography, or patrons of Avlyn Gardens Ristorante enjoying the patio on a sunny day. You may even catch a wedding in progress at The Doctor’s House with a selection of banquet/dining rooms, roof patio & chapel on site!
The business strip in Kleinburg appears to be small, but there are many popular conveniences and necessities in the mix as well, including: Starbucks, RBC, Kleinburg Post Office, Subway, physiotherapy / chiropractic / massage / naturopathic services, Kleinburg pharmacy, a selection of salons & spas, and a veterinary clinic/hospital (Dr.Dean, who is also my dog’s vet:-). You can find out much more about Kleinburg by visiting their official website: http://www.kleinburgvillage.ca/
The average price of a home in Kleinburg is $1,454,085 (4Q/2014)* featuring generously apportioned lots with older homes (many of which are being renovated or completely re-built with modern styles), and several newer “estate” style homes with huge lots and large homes with high quality finishes. More recently, a few new sub-divisions of smaller homes have come up (with detached homes, semi’s & townhomes), just west of Highway 27 & south of Nashville Rd. These developments offer a more affordable entry point into the neighbourhood (starting from about $550,000) for young families looking for all the benefits of the neighbourhood but keeping well below the average price of Kleinburg real estate.
If someone wants to enjoy the Kleinburg real estate and community, but cannot afford the price tag Sonoma Heights is a great option, with a more reasonable average price point at $696,808*. This well established neighbourhood is only 5 minutes south of Kleinburg and 5 minutes north of old Woodbridge, which
allows the residents of Sonoma Heights to enjoy the benefits of the prestigious Kleinburg community, attractions & parks/trails, while having immediate access to several Vaughan community facilities, great schools, parks, Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre & other “big-box” shopping only 10 minutes east.
I live in the “old” area of Woodbridge, which is approximately 10 minutes south from Kleinburg’s Mainstreet & Commercial Core. West & East Woodbridge offers a variety of housing options, with an average price of $696,344*, making it another great choice for busy young families in Vaughan.
Throughout the spring & summer months, you will often find my family on the tennis courts at Bindertwine Park, in Kleinburg.
I’m currently the VP of the Kleinburg Tennis Club, overseeing junior tennis programs, and an enthusiastic captain of the ladies summer team. Let me know if you are looking for a fun match of tennis anytime!
