From Bronte, with Love
In this article, you were presented with some hard facts about owning a primary residence or investment property in Bronte (amongst others) in Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area’s western communities.
BUT, aside from the numbers, Bronte is really special because it’s really been planned out and designed for an ease of living and high quality of life for everyone from First Time Homebuyers to Downsizers, and in between for people who own but are in the process of building a property portfolio that can support financial freedom.
Just so we’re all speaking the same language, Bronte broadly captures the neighbourhoods of Bronte west, Bronte East, Palermo, West Oak Trails, and Glen Abbey.
Now that we’re on the same page, let me highlight all the wonderful things Bronte has to offer. There are so many! Here are some highlights:
First of all is the newly built $2 Billion Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH), which is basically a hotel with piano player in the lobby, and large in-patient suites that feel semi-private. In the same complex is Erin Oak Kids which caters to all kinds of paediatric care needs for ages 0 to 18.
There are many daycares and Montessori early child learning centres strategically located on your commute so pick up and drop off routines in the morning and evening aren’t disturbed. Similarly, very well funded public schools and a plethora of private schools, mean that you can build an education plan that takes the best of the public and private worlds (if you’re so inclined).
Bronte is also 8 – 10 minutes from Oakville’s 2nd downtown (the Uptown Core). The short drive down Dundas will take you to Walmart, car dealerships, several chain restaurants, Winners, literally every bank, grocery stores…anything you need to live, work, and play.
Bronte GO station which also has express service is far less congested than other Oakville GO. Plus, get on 1 stop earlier so you can secure your spot.
Bronte Harbour is simply stunning! Playgrounds, Bronte Beach Park, and a boardwalk stroll along the lake is exactly the kind of perspective-shifting fresh air and staycation you need.
Not to mention the restaurant options! You have lots of yummy options from Parisian sweet or savoury crepes at Le Parisienne (the owners are actually French), to brugers and clam chowder at Cove Bar (the most stunning all white restobar that gives you serious Hampton vibes. And lest we forget…super yummy Arepa con Queso at the Colombia Fair Trade Cafe (it’s a coffee shop with actually free and fast wifi, and showcases local art you can purchase), again run by real Colombians. We keep it all the way real in Bronte.
If you’re looking for a coffee break on Dundas and Neyagawa, and don’t want Starbucks, look no further than Fortino’s! It’s more than a grocery store. The café serves far better cappuccino and the breakfast cookie is better than homemade granola – not to mention it’s more pocket friendly.
If you’re looking for artisanal bread and other baked goods for the week, then Cobs Bread, in the same complex as Food Basics, is where you need to be. Chocolate scones, anyone?!
The Town of Oakville’s QEP Community Centre provides recreation, arts, and culturally appropriate services for kids learning to kick a ball for the first time, to seniors in a jazz band. Not to mention they feature local teen artists’ painting and mix media art works.
What makes these combinations of significant investments and lifestyle features and amenities important is that you don’t have to sacrifice living for high growth-rate supporting factors, and vice versa. You can live your best life, while knowing full well that your finances are secure in a market with real life demand factors that result in financial security, not speculation.
In Bronte, all the phases of your life are easily supported. You can finally find a home here – not just your address but a community to really thrive and be well in!
